With an ever growing population and no shortage of land, Scottsdale is continuously expanding. According to the US Census Bureau, as of 2010 the population of the city was 217,385, up nearly 10% from 2000. Bordered by Carefree to the north, Phoenix and Paradise Valley to the west, Tempe to the south, and Fountain Hills and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community to the east.
Scottsdale real estate prices have steadily declined since its peak in 2007, when mean prices for detached houses topped $800,000. Currently, the mean price is resting at $541,392. In 2009, the mean price for townhouses or other attached units was $355,443. Two-unit structures averaged $317,430 and 3-to-4 unit structures had an average price of $296,000. Other residential housing prices included 5-or-more-unit structions, averaging $281,918, and Mobile Homes at $81,865.
